University Student Scholarship – OGA Classroom Educator Course with Practice/Internship Component

The Reading and Learning Clinic of Manitoba focuses upon teachers and professionals of the future with our University student scholarship-internship for the Classroom Educator AOGPE training and practice.

Scholarship-Internship recipient must commit to

  • Attending the 4 day Classroom Educator AOGPE course (value: $900).

  • tutor ONE 1:1 student from RLCM for 4 months, twice a week lessons (45-50 minutes lessons) with professional consult, coaching, and mentoring

  • regular communication with Dr. Valdine Bjornson (Certified Reading Clinician) regarding student progress including regular observations (online) of lessons

  • Option to work towards formal AOGPE accreditation (additional fees apply)

  • Option to work with other RLCM students (for remuneration)

This is a coursework-internship opportunity in which you will be supporting a student who will not be paying for services. You will be provided the coursework internship without cost, but the formal OGA practicum and other formal OGA accreditation components will be your responsibility.

RLCM will provide all essential resources and tools to deliver tutoring for the practice-internship component.

Scholarship-Internship based upon:

  • demonstrated commitment to neuro-diverse students (ex. difficulties with reading and writing and/or Specific Learning Disabilities and/or Dyslexia)

  • successful school and children based experiences

  • university academic achievement

  • commitment to the long-term 4 month coaching component for increased fidelity and quality of OG delivery

  • 2 letters of professional recommendation/reference

  • current Bachelor’s/Undergraduate students only (Canadian resident only)

Recipient can be from across Canada to deliver online lessons with the RLCM’s students
